Cover what they don't need
Usually: your national number, the card number and the lines of code at the bottom. Keep your name and photo when they need to see who you are.
Type what the copy is for. Without it, the copy can be used for anything.

Why this matters. Fraudsters ask for ID copies through fake rental and job ads. A copy that says what it is for, with your number covered, is much harder to misuse.

Questions about this tool
Is a copy with a watermark still accepted?
Usually, yes: the person you send it to can still see who you are. The watermark only makes the copy useless for anything else. If an office asks for a copy without one, ask them why first.
What should I cover?
Whatever the other side doesn't need. That is often your national number (in Belgium the national register number, in the Netherlands the citizen service number) and the code lines at the bottom, which hold your details in machine-readable form.
Are the black boxes really permanent?
Yes. The copy is a new picture: what is under a box is gone, not hidden. A PDF of your ID becomes a picture too, so no text is left underneath.
Are my files really not uploaded?
Yes. Your browser does all the work on your device. You can check it yourself: turn off your Wi-Fi after the page has loaded and the tool keeps working.
